The school's parent-teacher organization (PTO) is a service organization that provides support to students, teachers, and parents through many different programs and initiatives.
The PTO sponsors numerous activities such as the incentive program for summer reading, fall and spring book fairs, a Fall Fun Fair, the sale of gift wrapping paper and holiday wreaths, the spring Teacher Appreciation Luncheon, and the PTO Pancake Breakfast. In recent years, the PES PTO has raised funds to buy the school sign, computers, computer software, playground equipment, outdoor basketball hoops, and the sound equipment used during assemblies. The PTO also provides support for various assembly presentations, the Children in the Arts Day Festival, the Fourth Grade End of the Year celebration, educational enrichment activities, and many field trips. Peterborough Elementary School is the winner of twelve Blue Ribbon Achievement Awards for School Volunteer Programs from the New Hampshire Partners in Education . Parents and community members routinely volunteer in classrooms, the arts enrichment program, and in the library and they participate in many special events sponsored by the school's PTO All parents and teachers are automatically members of the PTO, which is governed by elected officers and those attending PTO meetings (click here for the bylaws). Morning and evening PTO meetings are open to all; child care is provided at evening meetings at no cost. This year meetings are the 1st Thursday of the month. Please find meeting dates posted on the Events Calendar. We hope you will keep yourself informed about current projects and initiatives by reading the news chronicle and will join us at the monthly meetings. |
